Humble Beginnings

Kenneth D’Anna’s journey into real estate is one built on grit, resourcefulness, and a deep-rooted drive to turn challenge into opportunity. Raised in a tenement in South Brooklyn, Kenneth grew up surrounded by love and adversity. At 15, his mother, Jo Anne D’Anna, introduced him to the world of real estate title research at Barretta Research. It was there, while making copies of tax maps and observing weekly foreclosure lists come through a fax machine, that Kenneth’s curiosity for distressed assets was born.

By 19, he had attended his first in-person auction and purchased a modest tax lien property. When traditional negotiations failed, Kenneth found a creative way to protect his investment, leading to a successful sale that ignited a lifelong passion for real estate. He reinvested the proceeds into a distressed home, living in the basement and renting the main floor—an early display of his strategy to generate income while building equity.
